Mr. James Wade
School Principal
Teaches 7th and 8th Grade

Mr. Wade came to Pilgrim Lutheran School from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to begin the 2014-2015 school year.  Mr. Wade is a graduate of Luther Prep School, Martin Luther College and Florida International University.  His career has included district school counselor, high school music department chairman, staff minister, Sunday School and VBS superintendent, workshop presenter and baseball and soccer coach.  He and his wife Kristen, have two sons attending Arizona Lutheran Academy.

Mr. Stevenson
Teaches 5th and 6th Grade


Scott Stevenson was born in Pigeon, Michigan and attended  high school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary and graduated in 2000. While there he enjoyed competing in football, basketball and track. Scott then attended Martin Luther College where he met his wife to be and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. He was assigned to St. Paul’s in Algoma, WI and served there for 11 years. He was then called to St. Lucas, Kewaskum in 2015 where he served as Athletic Director and 5th and 6th grade teacher. Scott moved to sunny Arizona in 2018, where he is 5th and 6th grade teacher and Athletic Director. He and his wife, Ellen, were married in 2005. They have two wonderful boys, Blake and Carson. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports with his boys, golfing, hunting, and fishing.

Mrs. Folsom
Teaches 3rd and 4th Grade
 
Originally from Arizona and after attending Pilgrim Lutheran School, Mrs. Folsom completed public high school and then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2009. Deciding that she would like to teach in the WELS synod, she moved to New Ulm and attended Martin Luther College for one year to complete classes for Synod Certification.  Following marriage to her husband, Ian, they returned to Arizona and Mrs. Folsom took a teaching job as a fifth-grade teacher at a public school.  In 2017, she accepted a part-time teaching position at Pilgrim. Mrs. Folsom likes to craft, play board games, run, and spend time with her family.   Teaching God’s Word to children is an honor.  Watching kids learn and “get” something for the first time is amazing and she is excited to be a teacher at Pilgrim.
Mrs. Stevenson
Teaches 3rd and 4th Grade


Mrs. Ellen Stevenson was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She attended WELS schools all her life, including Luther Prep for high school and Martin Luther College for her teaching degree. Ellen taught at St. John’s in Montello, Wisconsin and then married Scott Stevenson. She then taught at St. Peter’s in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin until she became a full-time mom. Scott and Ellen have been blessed with two boys, Blake and Carson.

Music has been a big part of Ellen’s life since as long as she can remember. In Kindergarten, she would come home from church and play the hymns from that day’s worship service. She has not only taken years of piano and organ lessons, but also been part of many different choirs. She enjoys using her musical gifts to the best of her ability in service to the LORD.

 


 

Mrs. Roach
Teaches 1st and 2nd Grade


 

Mrs. Gina Roach is from New Berlin, Wisconsin. After graduating in 2001 with her Bachelors in Education from Martin Luther College, she received her Divine Call to serve as one of our teachers and has been here for 10 years. What Mrs. Roach enjoys most about teaching is watching the children learn and grow, and teaching God’s wonderful message to them. Mrs. Roach also serves as our first and second grade teacher, and serves as our Girls’ Softball and Volleyball Coach.
Mrs. Roach and her husband, Michael, have 5 children; Shane, Riley, Isabella (who’s in Heaven), Connor, and Ryan. Scrapbooking and card making are her hobbies when she finds time to relax.

Mrs. Drexler
Teaches Kindergarten

 

Kim is a Southwestern girl with Midwestern roots born in Harbor Beach, MI but raised in Las Cruces, NM.  Kim has spent most of her life in the desert southwest, but did live in Germany for 4 years where she was able to spend a lot of time traveling throughout Europe. 2002 was a busy year for Kim as she graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and married Steven Drexler.  They moved to Mesa, AZ were she began her call teaching at Pilgrim. She and Steven have been blessed with three wonderful children, Gabe, Emma and Elizabeth (Elie.)

Kim loves teaching kindergarten and she hopes that when you (and your child) walk into her room you can feel it!  She strives to provide a positive atmosphere where children can be themselves and grow academically, emotionally and most importantly, spiritually, throughout the year.  She places a high priority on academic standards and doing “your personal best.”  All the kids in her kindergarten know that they work hard because “that’s what good students do!”

Mrs. Winterstein
Teaches Pre-School 4

 
Mrs. Wendy Winterstein was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Pastor and Mrs. Ditter.  Her family lived in Grand Junction, Colorado for 5 years and then in Portland, Oregon for 16 years where she grew up and attended Grace Lutheran School, Evergreen Lutheran High School and Wisconsin Lutheran College for 2½ years with an emphasis on Christian Counseling. In 1989, she married Pastor James Winterstein, where she served in many capacities throughout her husband’s ministry. In 1999 they were called to Pilgrim where she has assisted with before and aftercare, aiding in classrooms and for the last 10 years, has taught preschool.
In 2009 Mrs. Winterstein went back to school to continue her education and received her Synod Certification from Martin Luther College in 2011 and  a Bachelor’s of Science in Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement from Northern Arizona University in 2013. Her love is teaching and watching her children grow academically and in God’s Word.
Mrs. Winterstein and Pastor Winterstein have 4 children. Joshua who is married to Megan and lives in Tempe, Andrew who lives in California, Bethany who lives here in Mesa, and her youngest son Luke who recently graduated from ASU and lives in Tempe. In her spare time, Mrs. Winterstein enjoys spending time with her children, reading and crafts.
Mrs. Eiland
Teaches Pre-School 3
 
Mrs. Eiland was born in Michigan and attended WELS Christian schools from kindergarten through high school.  She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and taught at a licensed childcare center for 15 years before moving to Arizona in 2009.  Mrs. Eiland has three children and enjoys spending time with her family.  She loves teaching preschool children and sharing the awesome message of our Savior.  She likes hiking, traveling, watching  movies, playing with her dogs, and watching sports - especially her kids!
